A Cause Worth Fighting For

What does it take to stand up when everyone around us has learned to sit down? In 1 Samuel 17, we find young David arriving at a battlefield where seasoned soldiers had grown comfortable tolerating the daily taunts of a giant named Goliath. Nobody threw a punch. Nobody charged forward. All Goliath did was holler across a valley, and an entire army retreated in fear. Yet David, the youngest, the forgotten one sent merely to deliver food, looked at the same situation and asked a question that changed everything: 'Is there not a cause?' That question is the heartbeat of this message. There is a profound difference between those who accept what others have learned to tolerate and those who refuse to. David's courage was not reckless. It was rooted in private victories nobody had witnessed, battles with lions and bears fought alone in the wilderness. Those hidden struggles had built in him a confidence that no armor borrowed from someone else could provide.
